Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 preferred
  • 12 ounces bowtie pasta farfalle
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 6 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large Deep Skillet
  • Large pot

Method

  1. Boil the bowtie pasta in salted water until al dente, reserving 1/2 cup of the cooking water before draining.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat, then drain any excess fat.
  3. Sauté the diced onion, minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, and smoked paprika with the beef until fragrant.
  4. Simmer the mixture with beef broth, then melt in the softened cream cheese and heavy cream until smooth.
  5. Toss the drained pasta and Parmesan cheese into the sauce, using pasta water to thin it if needed, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened at room temperature; otherwise, your sauce will remain lumpy regardless of how much you stir.
